There are several small truck stops in New Orleans...park your truck and call a cab....hotels in the city are booked a year in advance for Mardi Gras.

Food is cheap unless you eat at a white table cloth french restaurant ...Nice, but very expensive. Walking through the quarter you will find everything you could ask for from A-Z more bars than you can imagine. All of which will be standing room only by Fat Tuesday. The parades on Canal street are fun to watch. Be careful not to bring anything other than an ID card and some cash. leave the credit cards in a safe place, locked in the truck. The FQ is full of scammers who take credit cards and jack up the prices and take advantage of out of towners...Cash is the only way to go. There will be plenty of cabs running down to the Quarter and Back for about 20 dollars each way. I would try to get into New Orleans by Friday to secure a parking spot for the Greatest Show on Earth. Laissez le bon temp roule!

Here are two places close to the action...

The Mardi Gras is near the french quarter

Ten dollars a day to park (space is limited)

Then there is The Palace, a big one off I-510 and hwy 90

You might get a spit at the palace....but forget The Mardi Gras....every space there is paid for by a local..who leaves a personal vehicle when the truck isn't there....there is no hotel anywhere near the quater w/truck pkg.....your best bet is out in La Place....where 55 ends into 10....but long way from quater....but remember
Mardi Gras celebrated all over s Louisiana &more affordable...but ifn ya never been to Rue Bourbon....well then ya gotta go....there r also 6-7 small spots along airline hi way spread out from Harrahan(just west of the Airport)out to just past reserve....but the hotel/casino ts in LaPlace prolly your best bet&wouldn't b surprised if u could catch a bus...but its nit around the corner......have fun
