I was fired today,

I've worked for flying J's for over a year and at the Plaza I worked at, I was adament about certain issues revolving around satisfactory shelf items. basically, I worked for a few people who didnt give a #### about your health and well being or the health and well being of 4 wheel consumers. Constantly I would find expired items sometimes in the amount
of 100 pieces of product and was told to not pull the items anymore by the General Manager because it reflected that the Merchandise manger was doing a poor job and it reflected that he was doing a poor job.
I spoke up about it at a meeting and contacted corporate office of the infringements against the consumers and nothing was done although the woman I spoke with a short time ago had said that such would be Investigated, the next day I was fired with a lie.

I've probably meet many of you running routes to North Carolina and to Florida. Its a shame that I would have to bring this to your ears as if just how you receive service sometimes isnt bad enough that what you might purchase at the location i worked for could make you sick.

Im sorry guys that my fight to ensure that you would receive legitamite good's was a short lived one, It was to the point that i would have to tell customers that an item they had brought to me in trust was expired, tHAT TO WAS also something I was told that I never should do. But in all those situations where expired items were broguth to me and I noticed and alerted the customer they were appreciative and most went and found a legitamite date. It wasnt like alerting you created a diminish in a sale, its unfortunate that I worked under sorry people who are still there and who still allow and or avertantly choose not to notice expired items, Im alerting you of this matter because it was severe enough that they were afraid to the point that they lied to terminate me. If you need to know which location I worked at if you pm me I will tell you the location in privacy as there are many good people there who are trying to ensure you receive a great experience, it is primarily the upper echelon that has failed at this facility in doing so, most of them have illegitamite people skills and no common sense, providing the reason why they are upper echelons at that facilty.

Appreciate all your responses on this critical matter, bluegrassbandmom I really dont know about the buffet items being out of date as our facility was witout a buffet(converted Williams Plaza). I do know many days in the cold deli which had to be pulled daily i.e. items marked 2/27 were pulled on that day. msny times i would pull the deli and the next day I would come in to pull some of the same dates I did before, at first I thought I missed one but then I realized im not that stupid and began doulble checking myself to insure it wasnt me. come to find out, the restaurant makes a lot of deli food items and that it was quite possible items were coming over expired where as on there side they shouldve disposed of them. when I brought this to the restaurant manager on duty they blamed it on an employee saying he put the wrong dates on there but that her and another employee verified that he did it right. (the first time.) I honestly believe there is more than just packaged good's from manufactuers being sold past expiration dates as I have also found entire boxes of expired hotdogs opened in the cooler and used. Molded burrito's, Molded bread, old, old, coffee. I asked the General Manger one day about times for hotdogs and times for coffee and he said hotdogs were good until they were gone and did not comment on coffee. at the facility i worked at there was also issues with expired fountain drink syrups.
often while working i'd become ill but only after drinking certain soda's.
as i stated , I pulled over 100 items about a month ago and when ridiculed for doing so, I did take action and called someone about the matter, Im assuming some one else come inside and purchased an item that was expired because the Health Department did come in and did check items in store and did find 3? expired items that is what was told to us in the meeting. keep in mind, I just pulled 100 or more items that previous week. the day before i was terminated just by front facing, I noticed 10 items on one end cap of a peg isle that were expired. which means to me as in pulling expired items in the past, means theres atleast 20-25 expired items on the shelves. (not mentioning the ham,hotdogs,cheeses,lunchables,and milk inside the cooler. you also would not wish to purchase the ice cream from this facility because there freezer rarely operates properly and you end up purchasing disolving ice cream, when it completely goes out and the ice cream has melted to an extent that it would be of concern it is transferred to the restaurant freezer,frozen again and placed back into original cooler as soon as it is fixed and sold as if it were fresh from mayfield. At the facilty I worked itwas not only trucker oriented but family oriented many families come in and young children would pick up items and it would be a shame if they received or if anyone received expired items due to neglegance. I was told personally on truck days that I didnt need to rotate stock if the date on the first item was within a month that it wouldnt matter and most certainly i didnt need to rotate candy. (apparently candy did not have expiration dates), what those fools did not understand was that candy has code dates and then certain bagged candies has actual expiring dates. I found a package of candy that said 2006 on it and it was 2008. I have encountered items where bad mold was involved in bread, hotdogs, burritos and cheese, my aggressiveness in asserting this matter into a meeting really put me in the hot seat that and being vocal against bias,discriminations. I lost my job and you can bet that if it was a problem at that Georgia Location that it might very well be a problem at most Flying J's, Im almost betting Mormons dont care for you in any extent anyway and that most General Managers with the exception to my First GM are useless as the second GM I have worked for is. Most employees are rude I hear at Flying J's and Im sure it involves harrasments from Management. At our facility I had to break that wall and keep cashiers vibrant and happy and set a model in being respectful of Drivers and helpful in any way, and it shows there, but im afraid that the GENERAL MANAGER, POWER HUNGRY ACCOUNTANT AND MERCHANDISE MANAGER WILL BRING THAT FACILTY DOWN. When visiting FLYING J'S going north or south in and out of South Carolina you will need to be prepared to when buying items , check the dates, when buying hotdogs, asking to see the date on the box being used at that time, when purchasing fountain drink if it taste odd, you will need to ask about the date on the bag, when at this facility you will need to check dates on your products, when buying milk you need to check dates on it aswell,
when buying cheese, bread and burritos anything in cold deli and often before buying chicken tenders in hot deli you will need to break open one to insure it is cooked completely through, I bought some one day because they looked good and fresh and bit into a big chunk of one and it was raw in the middle.

Im telling you these things because they did not attempt to fix them and neglected them up to April 1st 2008 and probably still do neglect them.
Im tleling you this information because of Corporates neglect in harrasments and neglect to inspect the store and realize that there are fools who allow expired items to be present in amounts that are excessive.
it is apparent my contact to corporate office on March 31st 2008 was the final straw before they drew up construed words and lies to terminate me.
