One place I really miss is the Kozy Cafe in the tiny town of Echo, Utah... sits on the I-80/84 junction.... it's been closed down for some years now, but my very first job was there, as a waitress.... I poured a lot of coffee, filled a lot of thermoses, sold a lot of CB's, whip antennas and Kool cigarettes back then LOL... don't know if there's any old schooler's out there who remember this place and the owner and my former boss, good ol' "Fat" Dillree... that guy knew how to take care of his truckers. I was just a teenager then, going into my 20's... we had an old counter with stools to sit on, and on one side of the cafe was where the truckers mostly dined, and on the other was where all the locals dined... had a jukebox that I remember I always liked hearing Alabama and Rick Springfield. Heck, when I was knee high to a duck, I learned to ride my bike in the truck parking lot... got in trouble a lot for that by my parents. That cafe was even the school bus stop for most of the town kids... we'd wait in the foyer for the bus to come. Course, when I got older and worked there, I thought I was important enough to wait for the bus sitting at the end of the counter chattin it up with the morning shift waitress LOL Those were the good ol' days........*sigh*

The highway 96 truck stop in Fairview, Tenn is an old one . It's located at exit 182 on I-40.
When I walked into the place, I thought I'd see sawdust on the floor and a country band playing. But the food was outstanding and cheap. The owner at the time, was a retired driver and gave ballcaps to all the drivers.
I haven't been there in years but I've heard recently that it's still open and I still have the ballcap. -
These are the best kind of truckstops I have been to some but can't remember where they are all at

I know a lot of people don't care for it but I'm a fan of the Detroiter. I love the weekend buffet they offer up. I always enjoyed seeing an american made product across the street. Correct me if I'm wrong but I had heard that the Woodhaven plant is now closed.

No, woodhaven is still working. But for how much longer, no one knows...
