I drive a company truck. In the summer we get shut down for a week or two. I bring the tractor home, park it in the drive and give all the aluminum a good cleaning and polishing. I also give the tractor a good buffing and a few good coats or sealer/wax. The interior gets a full shampoo and detail as well. Truck looks new when I get done. Did not get a chance to do the full treatment last summer but I will this summer. The boss has a big grin on his face when he sees it. Makes me feel good also.

The only problem is that when I do it, then some new driver will try and take over "my" truck and insist that the boss said he could have it. Heck even some of the vets in our company have tried to take over "my" truck. I even pulled into the yard one day to find the door opened and all my stuff packed up in boxes on the ground and one of the long haul drivers putting his stuff in the truck. The only thing he did not pack up was the connex 4300-HP. he figured they were part of the truck and owned by the company.

I asked him what he was doing and he told me the boss said he could take the truck. I said really, lets go ask him. Well he ended up repacking his crap etc and was not happy about the whole deal. he was even more upset when he tried to take the connex down and I told him that he had to leave that also. He said that I did not need that radio and that the company supplied it anyway and I would just go get a cobra or something from the truck stop and charge it to the company. I pointed out the sticker on the side of the radio and the other note on the dash stating that the "CB" was personal property of Steve J and so were the antennas and meters etc.

Boy did he get huffy as he stomped away from the truck.

It has been almost 5 years now and I still have the same truck. Its got 750K on it now so I might have to give it up soon for a newer model.

I would have the boss question the hiring practices of the company you work for. Sounds like they have a problem with HONESTY and INTEGRITY and RESPECT if they're telling you b.s. like this and even trying to get away with it. Even climbing into another truck that they aren't authorized to be in raises my hackles quite a bit.
Kudo's to you for not giving them the beat down they deserved.

sand them and "cut" them out using brown tripoli and a yellow wheel and a rake to clean the wheels with.

When non trucking strangers walk up to me and comment about such a sharp looking truck I have.....when four wheelers and RVers give me the lights when I pass them....when kids in the backseat go by and give me the thumbs up....it ain't about the money. It's about pride in the ride and providing a pleasing sight to the motoring public. Our skills and personalities are on display out there and it is well worth the effort to go the extra mile.

BTW....when I polish, I let it dry and take it off with mother natures very own polishing wonder: flour. Store your polishing rags in a container of flour.:yes2557:
