Several years ago. I kicked off a 2 stopper in FL. Upon unloading the last stop I pulled out and parked on the side waiting on a dispatch. With in minutes a cop ran me off. I had to pay 8 bucks a night at a hole in the wall truck stop. I hate that. I will not pay unless I have no better option. I know in MS the petro is paid, but you can go in there for an hour or 2 to eat or shower. If you get your ticket validated you do not have to pay, I have never stayed, just ate and went to the pilot to shut down.

Now you make a good point . You figure how many trucks park on a lot what percentage of the drivers leave trash ?

Nobody leaves there trash, dumps there ashtrays, pees on the parking lots, yet there are cig butts everywhere, trash flying around, and in the summer the parking lots stink of urine. Amazing what maybe 10% do, and none of us sy anything when we see it happen.
I copied this pic from another thread on the forum.

Most of the ones that I know that charge for parking are in the Northeast.
I had to stop at a little hole about a month ago in Rochester NY. They charged 5.00 to park any longer than 1 hour.
He said he is doing it because of the cost of land taxes in the area. He also said that the Pilots in NY are going to start as well for this reason.
I told him that he is nuts if he thinks Pilot will do it though, they have too much business to loose if they do.
Also there are only 5 of them in the whole state as it is, and several of those are newer purchases.
I have to say though. I can deal with 5 bucks much better than 10+ that some try and do. Plus many of the spaces at that stop are only full on the weekends with guys at home that are not buying fuel or even using the facility's.
In a case like that I think the truck stops should charge. Especially on dropped trailers.

I won't pay! If I need to stop to handle business, I will, then move on. There are too many places a resourceful driver can stop at to sit or sleep.

It is off of the first exit going north on 390. You exit right as you get on it from 90.
Small place with a large lot. Half the lot is dirt if I remember correctly and they have a scale.
I went there one time because I needed a place to park without going back onto the toll road.
I am 90% sure on that location and exit. It was a while ago and I am not in my truck to check my book.....

I just looked on google maps, I believe this is the address.

    4925 W Henrietta Rd
    West Henrietta, NY 14586

You exit on Lehigh Station Rd and go West.
Take a left at the light onto West Henrietta Rd. It will be on the right past the Days Inn.
Not a place I would truly recommend, but they do have a good size lot for a small place and normally always have some room. Also there are a few decent places to eat not that far away.

I know a glass-hauler who will choose to park in a paid lot because he feels that his load is safer... the lot is cleaner... and he won't have any lizards knocking at his door while he's trying to sleep.
