A worker at a truck stop said the owner of the truck stop is considering charging for parking to cover the costs of cleaning up fter drivers . Do you think he'll gain the extra revenue ?

Shower ? What do you have to pay for a shower to get free parking ? There is still the inconvenience of waiting in line to get a parking ticket then turn it in on the way out . Just more delays . What is it going to cost to build this booth and have somebody in it 24/7 and how many drivers does he think will actually end up paying ?

showers are $9.80 eat at the restaurant you get a permit and put it on your windshield.it will probably cost a grand to build a booth.it will be only overnight parking that you get charged for.so the booth will be manned from 8 pm to 4 am

And what will the parking be if they don't shower or eat at the restaurant ? Seems to me if drivers spend the night at a truckstop with a restaurant a large percentage will eat there . Just the sight of the booth will drive customers away .

If your a good stop, there will be plenty of parking/or none at all. Some good stops fill up quickly. If you use the islands that have all the amenities you will pay at least $50 a night.

Yet to blatantly charge for the extreme of picking up after a few messy drivers seems a bit absurd. Unless the real intent is to cut down on your clientelle. Yet once you start pushing customers away, you will find yourself wondering what can be done to bring them back.

quite frankly yes i would still do business with the truck stop if cleaning up after these drivers is the purpose, drivers do make a helluva mess and more then a few do it , we have a lot of trash out there today and it would be a full time job to take care of it and the trash is not just in the parking lot, why should the owner of the truck stop have to clean up after drivers for free.---southernpride

Charging more doesn't necessarily mean the lot will be cleaner . It depends how often they clean the lot . This does sound like a good place to stop at though . If I owned the place I'd invest in good lighting and security cameras . I'd make a website and post pics of offending drivers and e-mail links to the carriers .

For me it depends where I am and which truck stop is doing the charging....Laredo Pilot can kiss my ###, Ontario TA you don't have many options out there so I'll pay, Dannys in Phoenix I like plus I don't get bothered in there so I'll pay, Petro Jackson, MS nope, and the TA in Dallas only as a last resort..

I'm sure there are others that charge I forgot..
