Hey marty, i have a question for you. I am a new owner operator looking to get my first truck. I have 20% down but my credit scores are low due to some recent late payments ( i was laid off my job and couldnt find a new one with simular pay ). Before that i had great credit, this totally sucks!

Will anyone give me a loan with low scores even though i have 20% down? My wife has scores in the low 600's with no lates on anything, would it be better to put it in her name?

I have been approved with a company that does in house financing but i would like to go with a traditional dealer or better terms.

Also, do you have to have great credit to lease a truck? I heard a few guys talk about Prime Leasing, do they accept low scores?

Let me know if you think i have a chance!

ps I tried to PM but im new to the boards and it wouldnt let me send PM's till i had 50 posts

Prime has no money down and no credit checks. Kind of pricey, seems like 700 a week for a used truck, not sure what a new one would be.

Yes you can get a truck loan, you'll just have to shop the rate. I do not recommend buying a truck from a company that you are locked into though. You will want to keep your options open and go with a lender that reports to the Credit reporting agencies.

Sorry it took me too long to get back to the past few threads. I have been laid up for a few months with some serious back problems that will require surgery.

There is a street called 356 ( Irving Blvd ) here in Dallas with about 20 truck dealerships on it so i went there and starting wheeling and dealing and found a good one. I put down 20% and got a truck and trailer no problem, picking it up on friday, thanks for the advice guys!

Prime over $750.00 a week. Buy a truck on your own somewhere for $1,500.00 a mo.
