    UPDATE:
I talked to my father again about the truck.

He does not remember what specific model 3406 it is, his memory is not what it used to be.

When i asked about the paperwork for the rebuild, he told me he is not sure exactly where it is. Might be in the truck or with his tax information for that year... he was not the most organized. For a serious buyer though, he could put you in touch with the mechanic that did all the work.

Once again I'm simply trying to assist my father in the sale as he does not have acces to a computer and this is made all the more difficult as i live 1200+ miles from him. so it's not like i'm ignoring the requests for more pictures/information... i just don't have a zoom lens that covers that distance.

As i mentioned before, those interested enough can set up a time to view the truck.

He is old school and would rather deal with people in person. It is his deal to negotiate. The truck needs to sell, as he won't have any place to park it after he sells his house.

It is nice that he has you to help you! I hope he is able to sell it, but I believe he is going to have to take a lot less than what he is asking.
    Have a Merry Christmas!

For the shape that it is in on the exterior potential buyers have to assume the same or worse on the interior.

I would offer $500 since we had an auction up here and better and much newer trucks that were fully serviced by KW went for about the same. Sorry to say but there is still an abundance of trucks in the market. Many of which are in MUCH better shape. I would take it, and since I'm off for the winter, I'd have time to fix the heck out of it and make it not such a red light to inspection stations.

Why would you even offer $500? The 10 aluminum wheels alone with no tires on them are worth at 2-3 times that. My kid and his friend hauled an old 70's Cadillac down to the scrapyard recently and got close to $500 for it.

I recently sold a 1990 379 that was pretty similar right down to the crunched fender (which costs around $300 plus labor to install) for $5000. It was not running and I figured about $3000 would have put it back on the road and it would have been a $8 to $10,000 truck. The problem selling something older like this is no bank will finance it so it pretty much has to be a cash deal or some very creative financing.

    $500 go figure

Congratulations. You found someone willing to pay way more than a '90 379, not running is worth. The real problem lies in the fact that there is an abundance of NEWER trucks on the market at very low prices. Old trucks are just not worth what the owners sentimental value say they are. Reality is, no matter how much you put into a vehicle, it will never be sold for close to what you put into it.

Back to the original topic, I think PKGonzo's dads truck would be a great local truck. It might be priced a little on the high side but you have to start someplace and cash does talk while the other stuff walks. It has a sleeper that can be easily removed, it would be good for an end dump. It also has great potential to be a 10 wheel dump truck or water truck. Its old enough so that you don't need a engineering degree to properly repair it. Its not perfect but just by looking at the few pictures I see things that give me the idea that it was taken care of.
I could write a lot more but whats the point? We all have our opinions and thats mine. Gonzo, good luck helping your dad. You just have to wait for the person who is right for the truck to come along. I had great luck with the local craigslist. I'm sure he will be relieved when he gets it sold.

if I had the money and it wasnt so rough I would ask if he would take payments. I myself live just outside philly near trenton and I could use it to pull containers so I could be home more then I am now....considering like someone said I wouldnt be able to get a loan to cover the truck and just recently in the philly area there was a pete on craigslist everything rebuilt trans, engine, rear and he was asking 20 and there was no damage and it was a stand up sleeper. With really nice paint. I has to pass it up which hurt but it was only a 2003 model. If he would let it go way cheaper and take payments then maybe....

From talking to him, he is not willing to take payments... according to him he is not a finance co. Too much risk on his part to accept payments.

For those offering $500... please take those lowball offers elsewhere. He could make more than that taking it to a scrap yard or parting it out.
Not saying he is stuck on the asking price, but a REASONABLE cash offer will go much farther for consideration.

I also got my brother to take some interior pictures, so as soon as i can get him onto a computer and talk him through some email procedures over the phone, i will post those.

Well I was throwing it out there as others have mentioned due to age no bank will touch it. I am outside of philly on the north side near bristol so it wouldnt be far...if he cant sell it and changes his mind ill be around. I would have to track down alot of things to put it back into its glory days whats a truck paint job run these days. And to track down a tank, fender, see whats bent on the drivers side. And then what else it will need maybe tires which is 3k right tgere...brakes from sitting air tabks from sitting with moister in them. I mean who all knows what is wrong....
