For anyone who lives in the "salt states" you can probably understand my problem. My 96 Pete's door locks have corroded and loosened up enough that I need to turn my key with my leatherman pliers just to lock and unlock the door and anyday now I know im going to break the key off inside and be screwed. If anyone has the solution to either new locks or used locks or a way of upgrading the locks without switching the whole door I would greatly appreciate any help of finding them. Thanks!

I had the same problem on my 90. I took off the inside door panels and sprayed the locks and linkage down real good with WD40. Everything works great again.
bullhaulerswife and Big Don Thank this. -
I would try spraying some PB blaster into the keyholes, that stuff is amazing.

My unlce is a locksmith. He says WD-40 sprayed in the key slot will help alot.
-
is there a way to replace them altogether?
-
Slideandride, can you get me a picture of the key?? I'm not sure if those are transponder locks or not.
-
You can definitly replace them, I just can't remember if you have to replace the whole handle, or if you can buy the tumblers seperatly from Pete.
-
I know the cylinders can be replaced.. but my issue is whether or not they are a transponder lock.
My advise would be to take a key to the dealership and have them tell you if that is a transponder lock.. then if it is not, you can order new cylinders and replace them, without having to have a locksmith program the key. -
A 96 wouldn't have a chip in the key.
Big Don Thanks this. -
