    stupid logbook violation?

    hello,
I received a ticket for my logbook not being up to date. I had not touched it since 2/11/10, went home on 2/12, and then went on vacation for 10 days. I was in a rush pulling out of the truck stop i park at, and didn't catch it up. This was on the morning of 2/22.

The entrance to the nys thruway had a state trooper sitting right there, and he was doing random truck harassments on the side of the road. He was cool enough about it, looking over my shipping papers, and letting me catch up my logbook once i had explained i was just coming off vacation time.

now i have a ticket that i have plead guilty to, for failure to record duty status.

how severe is this ticket? how many points on my liscence will this be?
Do companies usually care about log book violations if I am the one paying the ticket?

Depends on the company policy, Barr nunn fires drivers for logbook tickets! I'm sure most companies feel the same way. Of to mention how many points it might cost you on your safety rating.

yeah, i'm not sure, I sort of doubt my company does, they are pretty desperate for drivers right now.

Safety rating isn't the same as mvr points though, is it? Do log book violations show up on MVR's, and do they cause points? Or do i just pay it, and it will show up on the MVR, but not cause points?

Looks like 11 point is all that New York will allow, couldn't find anything on failure to report duty status under NY law, but similar non moving offenses were 4 points, hope that helps, Jo Bernard

I am not sure how many points that charge would carry.

If you got a ticket, then I would assume that it would also show up on your MVR.

Some companies do charge a driver for log book violations, in addition to their ticket charges. They do this to deter drivers from having any violations.

A log book violation does not show up on your DMV, but the violation will be 7 points against you on CSA2010.

ok, thats what i thought, thanks a bunch grouch!

I dont know how much a lot of the carriers i would apply to would care, since its no points on my mvr, and most would be under the 100 mile radius rule anyway.
