On my home time at night i went to get a pizza less then 2 miles from my house. Pulling out I guess i pissed some guy off because he keep flashing me and flicking me off outside the car. I turn right at a light and he followed me and tried to pull up next to me, not wanting to be next to him I gunned it....

this is when an officer coming from the opposite direction through on his lights and pulled me over . I told him about the other guy - and what happened but he was not having it. I think he thought i was some young punk ( 24) with a sports car ( modded sti). He gave me a speeding ticket for doing 15 over and no registration ( could not find it ) told me I had to go to court.

I don't know what to do. Do i just eat the ticket, I just started a new job and they told me to call them back with what happens after the court date, ( I did not tell them what happened just that my license has been taken ) . I think if i eat the ticket then i would get fired and I have only been driving for 10 month and just under the 3 month probationary period at this new job.

I have gotten speeding tickets before but that was over 4 years ago.

thanks for any advice , have a month till my court date.

First off, if you really believe you don't deserve the ticket, fight it.

Cops hear all kinds of excuses. Believe me, yours is NOT original.

Now I was not there, and I don't know what happened. So I'm not accusing you of anything. Just stating what ought to be obvious.

Otherwise, however you deal with the ticket, "call your company back with what happens after the court date." Are you still working? Are you on some kind of "temporary suspension?" You should not be, as you haven't been convicted of anything yet.

You know what happened, so do whatever you feel is the right thing to do.

Are you sure your ticket isn't a temporary license? I can't remember if Illinois is one of the states that does that, but you need to check.

They took your license!?!? Was that considered reckless driving 15mph over? Jeez even then you havent even gone to court why do they do that? I say lawyer up man start researching some traffic lawyers in your area.

speeding is speeding, you let another driver decide how you drive, and it cost you, as a CDL holder you need to have more control over your driving habbits, not letting someone else dictate that, you could fight the ticket, maybe even get it reduced, make this a lesson learned, If this ever happens again, best thiing to do, would be to alert the authorities about the roadrage driver rather than try and speed away, it's your licence, you need to protect it

the ticket is your license til you get it back, i live in illinois and been there done that. you can still drive. what i did was ask my company to send me a copy of the copy of my license that they had in case i needed it for anything. oh and best thing to do is lawyer up. my ticket was worse than yours and it got dropped to a non-moving violation.

WHY was your license physically taken at the time? Is this normal for IL? What happens to somebody who is just passing through the state and the get a ticket for something. Does the issuing cop just routinely take their driver's license? This just doesn't sound right, or logical to me.
