I was recently fired from the company which I drove for without notice and left stranded in another state.
that's fine with me , but upon returning home I called to ask for access to my former truck to gather my belongings (thousands of dollars worth of electronics hygiene products clothes etc.) they informed me that my stuff had been "thrown in the trash" , which to me translats into, theyre keeping it.
is this legal? what can I do? someone please help!
company refuses to let me get my personal property from truck. what do i do?????

Sounds like a company I once drove for only the owner was so nice and dumped me 12 miles to the next town and I literally thru everything out the passenger window onto the snow.Better get yourself a lawyer. Was this a wrongful termination? If they said they thru your stuff in the trash which implies to me they gave your belongings away and tossed what they didn't want.

Whoever was doing the truck cleanout and throwing things in the trash probably kept whatever was valuable on top of the trash heap then claimed it for themselves after dumpster diving for it-- pervectly legal..
Need more details why they fired you, why you abandoned your stuff etc. If I were working construction and were fired I would not leave my tool belt and tool box in the job connex box and go home then call back later to ask them if I can come get my stuff, I would expect that stuff to turn up missing.Studebaker Hawk and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I wouldn't leave my stuff either. But I also learned never pack awhole lot of stuff either.
haz-matguru and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
You should have the right to get all your personal belongings back, since these items are yours.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

suggest you go to your local court house and file a small claims case,,if the company operates in your state they have jurisdiction ..also tell everyone here who the company is

they can fire me where they want but my stuff is going to be on the curb beside me
musta been a team truck to get left on the side of the road
that said i would probably be in jail for assault on team driverEZ Money and chopper103in Thank this. -
My boss left me stranded.Isn't there a law where companies aren't to leave drivers stranded?
-
No law about that..
Seems like I would of been grabbing my stuff on the way out the door where ever I got canned at.
How long did you wait to try and get your stuff????
