It is the issue. If no one allows you to carry, and I know of no company that does. Why does it matter if there is a federal law or not? You can't carry on account of it violates every company policy in place. You can be fired for doing so. It can go on DAC as violated company policy carried hand gun in cab. No one else will want to hire you as a trucker, so you threw away your job and career. If you are new you are out a lot of money for school. If you are not new you just lost years of service. Now go look for a job other than trucking. How long did you drive? 15 years. Why did you leave your last job? Oh; I had a gun in the cab that's all. Is it against the law to carry? Well they say no federal law against it. My company said it was against policy. Well sorry driver, but the job you are interviewing for has been filled!

Once someone hears there is a gun involved as to why you lost your last job you might as well tell them you were holding up a liquor store. A company hears gun violation, no job for you. So for all of you that don't care if you lose what you have just so you can carry a gun, Then by all means go ahead. There is a big future in picking up pop bottles along the highway.

I'll ask you one question. Whats more important, your job or your life?

Thats the point.

If it ever get's to the point to where a person is that afraid or feels the need to carry, then maybe they should consider a different profession.

The choice will be made for you if and when your company finds out your are carrying....YOU will be fired.

Iam not going to let this thread get to the point of a personal bashing.
YOU have your opinions and I have mine.

I don't know how you live your life but, I have guns in my home and that's where they stay.

I better not even think about taking them to the Trucking Company where I work it's agains't their policy to have them on their property let alone in one of their rigs.

I can understand both sides of this issue.

However, we do have rules and regulations that if we want to work we must abide by.

Having a weapon does not mean you will not lose your life. I have lived in a combat zone. I have driven trucks over half of the US not armed. People die everyday with weapons in their hands. Not a good argument. Got anything better?

It's a proven fact that an intended victim who draws a weapon...nine times out of ten will be killed with it by the perpetrator.

Cybergal. please, I mean no disrespect. I didn't mean that as a personal bash and if you took it that way I apologize.

Maybe if he had a firearm he might be alive today. Who knows.

Notarps. I realize that simply having a firearm does not seal the deal on staying alive. But think about it. Police carry guns. Why? Because it greatly increases the chances of surviving a deadly encounter. Lots of cops die every year because of the bad guy getting the drop on them. But many survive as well.
