How new of a trailer are you looking for ? I've seen some 53' used reefer trailers going between $8-11k here. They were 2000-2003 with roughly 25-27k hrs on the reefer. I know this because we are in the process of looking for a couple reefer trailers. We also looked at leasing trailers but they are off their rocker for the prices.

I really dont think there are much for options for O/Os wanting the "rent" a trailer. The companies who DO rent/lease them, cater to the larger trucking companies that find themselves in a jam and short of a trailer and are willing to pay the outragous fees to do so.

You'd likely be better off making payments on a trailer loan for money borrowed, than renting one. Not what you wanted to hear, I know.

I have a 10 yr old 53 foot air ride dry van I bought for $4,150.00
it is in pretty good shape inside and out considering the age and miles
I bought it from T.I.P. (GE Capitol)
This year I hope to get a newer one
