:biggrin_25513: CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT CURRENT PER DIEM IS FOR 2011?
IM STARTING A COMPANY DRIVER POSITION,OUT 2 WKS THEY DO NOT PAY PER DIEM SO ALL COST IS ON ME.
SHOULD I GO WITH THE STANDARD DEDUCTION ON THE PER DIEM? OF $ A DAY.
OR SHOULD I GO BY MY LOCATION EACH DAY? AND DOING BY LOCATION I WILL NEED RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING CORRECT?

The per diem for 2011 will be the same as 2010 was until the IRS changes them later in the year.

No. IRS could leave them alone or change them.

    Bumpy Thanks this.

No. If someone asks, I will look them up. It is just as easy for them to.

A quick look for Publication 463 dealing with the tranportation worker per diem shows that the IRS has not issued any new publications for 2010.

This means that the rate posted in 2009 is still the one.

If this applies to you, you can claim a standard meal allowance of $52 a day ($58 for travel outside the continental United States) from January 1 through September 30, 2009, and $59 a day ($65 for travel outside the continental United States) from October 1 through December 31, 2009.

Alos remember if you are taking per diem on your taxes(form 2016) drivers can take 80% fo $59 not the standard 50%(Its right on the form) So get all you deserve!
