Any veterans used the Patriot Express loan through the SBA? If so how did it work for you. If you know of any other Veteran specific loans let me know?

I tried going that route and was told they want 30% down payment.

    That was like $18000 down.

I have opted to go other options now.

Especially since SBA guarentees 80% of the loan to the bank.

    Check with wallwork financing.

Well I used voc rehab they helped with start up I purchased a w900 and flatbed and just bought a 2nd truck 362 pete with a reefer. You will have to go through classes and write a business plan. The will also register you as a veteran owned business I get 3% of all military shipments not a bad deal a lot of paperwork just keep pushing and never take no for a answer

I went with a SBA Microloan from my local foundation. I was also required to register with Dunn & Bradstreet as well as a vet owned business.

SCHULTZ, what classes and are they through the VA or just some basic business classes offered at say a CC? I am planning on doing some of those already. Probably this winter because I will be laid off of work most likely.

MNdriver, what % interest are you getting if you don't mind sharing and how much was the loan for? What did you have to do to get approved? I have a mid to high 700s for my credit and do have equity and collateral for a loan.

First loan was 8%, second loan for 5%

I used my microloa for the downpayment for my truck and trailer and the other loan for my differential last month. Opportunity cost considered, we decided to finance the repair and use cash to pay for my authority. Better ROI that way.

I really had to do nothing but watch a video that took me an hour to see what the foundation was about. My business plan was rather thorough they went with the first draft and and asked if I would let them use it as an example.

I put up enough collateral to cover the loan if need be.

    milskired Thanks this.

Big difference in the patriot express and the microloan is the amount financed.

With the micro being much smaller.

The patriot express is also supposed to be more of a streamlined process too.
