I'm bored, and thinking, and all the threads I see are old. I would like to knock two birds out with one stone. I don't have good credit, like...mid to high 600's. I've got a good down payment I can throw down, and I bank with a credit union. I know IF I get accepted it's not going to be a pretty rate, but I wanna do it. The business plan and such isn't tough to come up with, I can get those numbers together pretty easily. The thing I'll most likely have a problem with is finding a lender. So basically, can anyone help with that?

I'm continuing to do what I can to build credit, and as much as I've looked Into a lease purchase...I think I would vote against doing that. So yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Buy a truck through Cardinal Logistics; all you need is $2000.00 down payment. They arrange a lender for you and keep you running hard by providing freight.

I'd really like to choose my own freight and my own company to lease to though. They do however seem like an alright deal. I've got companies in mind...well, one really that I'd like to go to. Just need the rig and such. I do appreciate that and will look more into it. Thank you.

As long as you don't have a recent bankruptcy, lore mountain can be a good option. In fact, unless you have A credit, they are probably the best option. B credit at a traditional truck lender such as paccar or daimler chrysler (dealer banks) is going to get you in the neighborhood of 16 percent interest. That kind of rate is insanely bad. As for a trailer, there are many options to get you a trailer. Most guys just rent one from their carrier.

Yeah, I was going to ask you guys spyder, but didn't wanna clog your thread with bs. I'm looking at lone mountain mainly, but wanted to bunch them both into a single loan. Seems I could just rent/lease a trailer then and take that route.

I thought you had said before you wanted to come to Mercer? If so, don't stress a trailer, just get one of theirs. They are cheap, and get the job done. One thing, you need a reserve, cause no matter who you buy the truck from, it's gonna have a breakdown. No truck is bullet proof and something will happen. It's when, not if.

Yeah, I've definitely been saving. Deployments are great for that haha. Mercer is definitely where I am wanting to be in the near future, so yeah. I guess power only would be a good route. Mainly the getting the equipment is my final piece of the puzzle, but I think I need to get the hire before the rig if I'm not mistaken? I hear places like to know where you're going to be bringing your money in from.

Yes you need to be approved before a major lender will finance you. Basically you call Mercer and do an application. They will give you an "intent to lease" letter. Show that to the finance company and that's it. If I'm not mistaken Mercer will not give you a trailer and equipment. So need to have cash to buy starting equipment. I just bought a crap load of stuff off a guy that quit a couple weeks ago, so used equipment is out there. Look around, check ebay, craigs list. Etc. Don't need a shiny new headache rack for 800, can but a used one at a junk yard for 200. Every junk yard has head ache racks. Buy your bungees at truck pro. And every thing else at mercer. Recruiting will have a list of suggested equipment, and the Mercer cost. I would suggest you add enough felt to cover a full load, that will be another 75 or 100 bucks. If at all possible buy it. Since using felt on every load, ive never had to fix another tarp.

Fixing tarps is literally the most annoying thing in the world. If it's not perfect, you'll be redoing it soon. The headache rack I can easily have. My dad has an old merrit, I'd just need to put a couple pans on it for "comfort." I've been keeping an eye on the mercer page for stuff for sale, and also on here,. I have about a month till I can really pull the trigger on everything, but Im working on what I can from where I'm at now. I've learned a lot of little things I like that I'll need too down the road, like portable 4" ratchets, and all that little crap. Blankets are a great help too, old quilts rule. There will be a lot of little crap that I'll need to get, but some of it I can get over time. But for the trailer, you rent it? Any down payment on it or anything?
