i have more than one truck in mind. but applying for a loan maybe at more than one place worries me. debating between a 875k mile truck for 22k or a 40k truck with 430k 07 and 09. ready to jump but i dont get why a hard inquiry has to mess me up

Apply at a credit union, see if you can make the numbers work for either one, then once you selected which truck have credit union finalize the paperwork. It doesnt have to be a credit union, any of the finance companies you talk to, just give them the situation and that way your only hit once or twice in this case.

NO...when you apply for vehicle loans within a 2 week period it doesn't hurt the same way as if you do the same amount of inquiries in 30 days.........

you can apply for 4-5 loans in a 2 week period and it not hurt you as much if you do it over a period of 30 days.....

Well, just because it doesn't makes sense it don't mean you don't understand it...
Specially when it comes to the very complex realm of credit scores. Is my understanding that in general, a credit request is perceived as a sign of living beyond means, hence indicates a certain level of added risk which is illustrated by the two point deducted from your credit score.

Hard requests reflect on your record for 2 years regardless of the nature of the request. 1 is perfect 5 is too many.

To avoid headaches of this nature, find your own loan. If you have OK credit, go to your bank, credit union or
directly to any of the major players (GE Capital and such) in the commercial lending arena. GL!

All hard inquiries within a month's time count as one inquiry where your credit score is concerned...

getting a credit check wont hurt your credit as much as all the debt you will be in after a few months on the road,as your expenses mount to keep said truck on the road..

i talk to people first, get a feel for the loan process and terms. chances of being approved or not approved. then decide who you want to try for a loan. i also know where my credit stands.

I am surely no expert, but commercial credit may be different in these applications than consumer credit. I know it was a lot different for me when I bought my truck, and commercial credit is merciless, no slack, but I think ratings aren't as important as payment history, income, and that ratio we all love - income + assets/debt.
