Typically it becomes the employees responsibility to pay their state income tax unless you have a presence in the state. If they are required to periodically report to you in LA, then they could be subject to LA income tax instead of PA. My sister in law managed a store in LA on a temporary basis until a replacement manager could be found when the original one was fired. She had to pay LA state taxes on those earnings.

Where did you hire your employee? When I hired my employee, who funny enough lived in PA, I paid FL unemployment on him because I hired him in FL.

If your drivers are otr...You need to withhold in each of the jurisdictions where your drivers reside.

the sister-in-laws' situation is different as she would have to file a non-resident tax return for LA. Her ""work-station" was in LA.

PA, IMO, is one of the worst states as they have a zillion jurisdictions. Many have gone on-line in recent years. So they don't send out coupons any more.

Your company is based in LA. Does your driver OTR. why isn't your payroll based out of the home state Louisiana. I'm asking.
When I had hired drivers in Wisconsin, a couple moved out of state. I just kept them as employees under the Wisconsin numbers.

payroll is based out of Louisiana but state unemployment and state tax has to be based in the state there residing in regardless of the state there hiring in or so ive understood. rest of the taxes are federal programs so those numbers are the same no matter where they live just want to make sure im paying the right amount
