i don't know much of the details my trucker does, and he has been trying to get a company job and has not been able to because his experience is no longer verifiable because he does not own the company anymore and the new owner doesn't wasn't to say he did anything with the company (they dont get along)

here is a link to the truck he found:

obviously we'd inspect it in person first make sure it is as good as the ad says

That truck would NOT be my choice! No sireee! You better tell "your" trucker, to keep looking or go to a company that trains their drivers.
Whew! That truck just gives me bad vibes.
    Heck!!! It's 20 or 22 years old!
It better have been totally rebuilt!
...And paid off in 6 months?
...hmmmm $1200.00 down . That leaves about $4200.00 so that's $4200.00 divided by 6 months equals $700.00 per month payment, which doesn't include insurance, taxes, plates and any maintenance issues.
You and your "trucker" better rethink your game plan.

    Just my 2 cents worth!!

Yea if you don't even have 1200 to put down, you better off save some more money.

The add is a little misleading also. It says it has alum. wheels, eagle pkge, hi-rise sleeper. Looks to me like a plan old cab-over flat top international with steel wheels.

RUN FOR THE HILLS STAY AWAY FROM UNITED TRUCK GROUP!!!!! yeah they put anyone in anything but their trucks are salvage rebuilds with junk parts never get more than 10000 miles out of any of their trucks then you have to go to them to get any repairs done and those are half assed jobs i have seen the trucks they put out had one sit here in wyoming for weeks because the tranny blew apart then united truck group wanted the driver to pay the tow to mississippi then they would rebuild the tranny would not authorize any other repairs OOIDA has been after these guys for years!! couple years back their facility burned to the ground now they are back with some of the trucks that burnt up all painted and pretty up

Not to mention if you ever need a "in frame"... hell tires are the least of your worries.

Also some more food for thought since you are looking to gain some knowledge. Most fuel cards want their money every week as opposed to the regular credit cards. I would not recommend financing you fuel with a CC.

My thoughts on that truck you posted... it will make a nice farm truck. Short hauls with someone who likes to wrench.

Like many have said you have to have cash in hand because everyone's hand's will be in your pocket. Including our own government's!

Best of luck with you and husband and please make sure you know the water depth before jumping.

I would seriously be suspicious of the mileage. Since the average OTR truck can put on 120k in one year, and this truck's 24 years old. It's possible that this truck has over 1.2 million miles on it and the odometer has simply rolled over back to zero. And the 1.2 million estimate is based on 50k mile a year and that's being generous.

    My advice ... RUN.

If they tell you that the truck has been "rebuilt" I'd definitely ask to see the maintenance logs and receipts. A restored or rebuilt truck like that would be a lot more than a few grand. Sounds really dubious to me.:biggrin_25513:

Wow! I didn't think there were any 9670s left north of the border! If you manage to pick up this truck, you will have one heck of a time ahead of you. I drove a 9670 for my first year of driving - with a hugely powerful Cummins 315 - and my butt and lower back still remember the crappy ride along with the box-o-springs to replace broken ones on the accelerator :). Run away, far and fast.
