Question about recording and paying per diem

If I'm doing the books for my corp, how would I record paying a driver per diem?

Say if he came from another state and stayed here during that time to drive for my company for 8 months then went back home, could everything he was paid be recorded per diem?
I haven't had to deal with that yet, but I guess the taxperson would know where to fill in the per diem info when doing my taxes.

Thanks.

Im not a tax person...but I think if a person moves to another state for x period of time, even to work there....they are considered a resident of that state. Per diem might not be applicable....not sure.

Where is your tax home?
(Tax home is the registered voting place of residence, where you have rent or mortgage obligations, utilites and family if married.)

There are many construction people that travel and work on site at the locations. They may be there for 3-6 months. They have the ability to the per diem or the actual cost for the time away from their tax home.

My tax, place of business is TN. The driver's is FL. (If he came here to drive for a certain number of months, then went back to FL). I was just wondering if I had them do it that way, how I'd record it in the books. I'd pm you, but I don't think I'm up to enough posts yet. Thanks.

Is he driving OTR?
In order to do per diem, you have to have a plan in place. Otherwise, pay the driver and let him figure it out.
