Tax Time (claiming meals) in Canada

Well it tax time again coming up, whats the options for claiming meals and the ups and downs of it all. I've been a driver for 6yrs now and this is gonna be the 1st time here. I've been on Canada Revenue website, but I'm kind of baffled still. If some Canadian drivers can help me out that would be great. I'm a driver and I just run provincial, nuttn across canada or the states. How many meals can you claim, how long do you have to be away from your metero area?

IRS pub 463 allows for the taking of a daily per diem for meals:

52.00 in the US

58.00 in Canada.

The above are the 2007 rates.

Buy QuickTax. It'll do all your calculations for you, you can file online so no receipts and piles of stuff to send it, and so far I've never been questioned using it. I'm self-employed and have used it for the past six years.

The deduction for meals is right in there along with everything else. Makes your life a LOT easier!!!
