Tax refunds

Didn't know exactly where to post this, can't very well post in the questions for new drivers section, not now that I've got a cool 6 months under my belt. Anyways, I'm filing taxes soon, just got my W2 and was really just looking for advice. There are no accountants in my area that know alot about OTR trucking, and I myself don't either.

I'm under the impression that I get a 52 dollar a day write off for being on the road. That and my cell phone is all I know to deduct. Now I only worked the second half of the year and was unemplyed the first half, so I'm wondering what I should do. Do you normally get a good bit of your taxes back? I was thinking I might get a greater percentage back because my income was only half a year's worth. Is it worthwhile to hire a general accoutant or do you file yours yourselves.

Thanks for any advice you have.

I do my own return. Been a professional tax preparer since 1982.

But for you, you can either use turbo tax and do the interview or find an enrolled agent or cpa to do the return.
