Thumbs up 1099 misc box 1 rents instead of box 7 nonemployee

My driver is an owner/operator. He leases his truck from this company and then turns around and leases his truck to Gordon.
Gordon gave him a 1099misc but instead of putting the payments into box 7 for non employees payments ---- they put it in box 1 that says rents.

Does this mean I should prepare schedule E instead of schedule C ?

Help, cant' seem to get the answer anywhere.

You should get a corrected 1099. However, if not, then report it on the Schedule C. Attach a copy of the 1099 to the schedule c with a signed statement as to the error. It will be accepted with no problem.
