I almost bought it!!

Glad you all chimed in. I was going to the website to buy I was so excited about it I wasnt thinking about the comments. After reading them I think Ill wait a tad bit. I agree with the rest of you about the map is priority!!! I have a gps but I still write down directions from dispatch or QC. Thats what I follow. But the GPS helps or has helped me with missing or hard to read street signs!!! I have saved myself plenty of U turns having a GPS onboard!!
Trucking has come along way. Before you know it we will just enter a destination into a computer and just ride along, Auto Pilot!!!!! Wahoo finaly some sleep

i bought the 7" screen worldnav about 7- 8 months ago,i left MA last night and was going to see the mileage difference between two different routes.i ran the route and ten miles later it still had'nt created a route.reintered info and ten more miles it tells me not enough memory.huh ,never seen that before, tried a longer route, and got tired of waitin on response.best i can figure is it will work good on short trips, can't compute longer routes, also looked for a street on screen for 1/2 hour driving around at 0100 in the mornin, called receiver to get directions, and worldnav had streets backward.can't see it on daylight mode,so i ran it on nighttime mode all the time, still have to dim contrast at night or it blinds me,then brighten it for daytime driving.city names are to small, and not enough truck services shown,i would'nt trade streets and trips and my laptop for it.PM me if u want to buy my 7" worldnav for 1/2 price

There must be something about a T600 and the seats. Cuz my laptop never took a dive from the seat when I used it, about 2 years.

However, I have dumped one in the floor of a Volvo and a Freightliner.

And all the seats are basically the same...go figure.

Is there any type of monthly fees that go with the truck version of the GPS? In a couple of months/years will the system need to be upgraded with new software or does it just upgrade itself?

No monthly charges.

Typical GPS systems can be upgraded the first time for free. Just register it when you buy it. And DL the updates to your PC. A cable is usually provided for this.

Garmin charges $10 for additional updates after the first one.

If you don't have high speed access. I suggest popping for the CD. Also $10

It takes almost 1 1/2 hours for me to get my updates on DSL Extreme 6.0.

Dial up would be about a week

I have the Worldnav gps, for about 4 mo's now and it sucks for the money I spent! My buddy has the Co-pilot and that has its own problems but it works better than this GPS unit I have. How about this; you punch in the address to where you want to go and you have 3 choices, (shortest, quickest & freeways), but for some reason even tho your trip might be a straight shot, it wants to go left/right/left/right/left/right. I don't even have to go through construction to have tell me to get off at an exit just to get back on. It is wacked, 450.00 down the tubes. With that said, I still use it, basically it helps me by telling me when the road is coming. Most of the time I go by the directions Schneider sends me and the WorldNav adjusts durring route, so it just helps me know when the road is coming, so I don't have to look for the sighn. I guess that is worth 450.00
