DAC changed from how it was originally setup post 9/11, trucking co's used to make inquires to DAC and often it would keep drivers from qualifying and trucking co's were not required to tell a driver that they got the information from DAC. I honestly don't care myself about what DAC has become all I know is even if you own the trucks, and everything in your trucking co. you can't even hire your family unless your insurance provider says it's ok. The main thing this DAC kept reports on was when drivers would quit and abandon equipment.

Update I just was played by class attorneys trying to discourage me from filing a direct claim, they been ALL over my phone/email for over a week, I just found out today from speaking to one that the current class counsel on record who CAN'T file for class members that want to go for a direct claim(s), the money figure $2,000 - $20,000 is only an estimate from the class attorneys, there is way more money in this IF you can show violations on a direct claim and argue it at the fairness hearing in Richmond VA.

I had a situation with "USIS" (formerly DAC; presently Hirerite) where they incorrectly reported me as having been ticketed; not once, but FOUR times for driving a commercial vehicle within 4 hours of consuming alcohol. I found out about it in early 2007 when I came home after working on the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina for over a year. My discovery came after being turned down for several jobs and one employer clued me into why my application was denied.
I sent USIS a certified letter demanding they remove the information within 30 days and send me proof that was done. After 30 days I called them and they told me that they were "still waiting" on verification. I told them that the LAW allowed them 30 days and NO MORE to verify the reports and if they did not have it they MUST remove the false information and provide me proof within 24 hours or I would file a legal action against them.
The next morning, I got a "corrected" USIS report minus the false information.
The information was entered by a "company" called "Courts of Arizona" and I looked for two years and I couldn't find an attorney in Michigan OR Arizona to represent me.

That is just not true. DAC/USIS has always been governed by Fair Credit Reporting Act and trucking companies have ALWAYS been required to inform you if they got the information from DAC/USIS. It's just that there is really no Governmental way to enforce these laws and they must be enforced by the individual, but realistically; how much in "damages" would a driver sustain if he wasn't informed of the source of the information.
Any company that isn't honest enough to tell you where they got their information isn't worth working for IMHO.

As with your "credit records" you have the right to one FREE copy per year, or any time you suspect it might contain some FALSE information.
You can go to their web page for their phone numbers, they will tell you how to request your report
