    Big Rigs of the Future

The one pictured looks like Optimus Prime 2013 version.

has anyone seen the two tractor trailers with only one driver? Its computerized for the second rig to follow the first no matter where it goes. There is a computer chip mounted somewhere on the rear door that the second trailer follows. They are already in operation in Sweden or is it Denmark? Somewhere in Europe anyway. Can't imagine what would happen with a computer malfunction.

not the fact that some is going to be put out of work but the technology behind it.the only thing the driver has to do is drive one truck at a time.Like a set of turnpike doubles only with a tractor in between.you stop at a trailer drop yard, shut the rear truck off,go make delivery with first ,come back get second ,make delivery, reset computer and off you go.That's the general idea anyway. Happy fathers day to ya.

I really like your futuristic rig!! I know it's going to be a tough job, having to drive one of those. I applaud you for wanting to step up to the plate and tackle it.

    yeah i agree lol

i passed one coming down 81 in va a couple of weeks ago going in the opposite direction that looked like a demo and concept vehicle that looked even worse than the one pictured above......looked like a t2000 underneath the FULL aero package......no company name, just eco-green on the trailer.

this ugly thing had a full nose cone to a point, kinda like the radome on an aircraft. full fairings front to back, even over the tires. onnly thing you could see was a small black strip of rubber at the road. even the steers. been thinking about that one and how that worked but it has to be some type or clip on type so that it can turn with the tire.......only about 1/2 to 1 inch gap at the trailer and the rear frame between the cab and trailer and full to the ground fairings on the trailer as well. bet sliding the tandems on that thing is a ##### lol

it looked alot like a rocket laid on it's side or maybe an airbus or boeing with wheels and no wings and vertical fin.....someone else on the forum saw it too and commented on it in another thread.....it was different that's for sure

i hope i'm retired long before they try to put me in something like that. the aero things we're driving now are bad enough even though after a decade they're finally starting to grow on me lol

i'm of an age where a hood will always be a 'real' truck.....some of us old and set in our way types are soooo resistant to change hahaha

When we have trucks that require a Tricorder to fix it...It's time for me to chuck it to the curb and head for the hills.....
