85mph is one fast speed limit to drive at

I don't know why they think People should drive 85 when most shouldn't even be driving 70.

And people wonder about gas prices lol, most cars and trucks burn a fair percentage more fuel at those speeds.

They have to do that to encourage people to drive the extra distance to get to the toll road and to justify it's very high cost. To use it from S of Austin, it takes I believe about an additional 11 miles, to use the new section from Seguin, it will probably be about the same additional miles vs, straight up 35. BUT, traveling from Laredo, north?
And being able to avoid most of San Antonio and the area between SA and New Braunfels, and Austin/Roundrock???? That's a very time consuming trip during the day or on a college game weekend or holiday weekend.

For trucks, it's very costly but I use it a lot in a car with txTag and only 6 months ago, the toll road around Austin was nearly vacant any time you used it, but it's usage has grown significantly recently since they raised the speed limit to 80 (now 85). One thing is for sure, a major crash at those speeds, somebody's dying. Not many cars today are safe or practical to drive faster than about 75-80.

That is going to be a problem but not so much from a truck hitting a hill .... A lot of carriers are authorizing their drivers to use the toll road (such as Walmart) but these trucks can't go faster than 65. So you've got 20% of the traffic going 65 and 40% of the traffic going 75, and 40% of the traffic going 85, there is a lot of speed disparity. Truck going 60, car going 85??? Somebody better be paying attention. I wonder if there will actually be any o-o's use that road and run 85 MPH?

And furthermore, some people are convinced they have to or need to drive 5 MPH FASTER then the speed limit

I hate I35....Traffic Sux...
If they finish the 6 Lane thing...like 20 years from now. Then it will be nice..but by then they'll need 8 Lanes.
