Debate gears up over truck lanes

Debate gears up over truck lanes
5/27/07
Atlanta Journal Constitution, GA
Perry Wilson was looking forward to the Georgia dept. of transportation's public meeting to discuss truck lanes in the state.
He thought it might hold hope for the hundreds of trucks bearing snack cakes that he sends onto Georgia's gridlocked roads out of his office in Tennessee.
"We hope that GDOT's going to tell us how they'll make the roads safer and less congested," by adding lanes, he said as the meeting started in Kennesaw last week. "I certainly support truck-only lanes."
since it dealt with congestion, not finance — was that if such lanes are built, his trucks may be forced to use them, and to pay.
"I didn't know they were going to be tolled," he said. If they're mandatory, "that's going to put it on the back of the trucking companies to build the roads."article continues

That might be an interesting idea if 4 wheelers are banned from the "truck only" lanes.
