I offered to buy Gordon for cheeseburgers and strippers but Heartland won out.
Criminey Jade Thanks this. -
Interesting

I guess all those years of just paying mileage pay and nothing else, has paid off for Heartland.
I was surprised to find out GTI'S avg length of haul was 400 miles. That would explain why they always seem to be Racing around like behind schedule. Gotta turn lots of lds to make a good check. -
Pretty soon there will be five big carriers to work for, just the same as there are about five big dry goods stores and supermarkets to buy at. You think it's bad now, just wait a few years. Low rates are just a way to weed out the small guy, and a way for big trucking to buy out medium trucking. They will divide up just enough to keep the gov from crying monopoly. Just look at the number of airlines compared to 20-30 years ago and you will see the future of trucking.
Criminey Jade and bigblue19 Thank this. -
Not really a good example, trucking and airlines. Would you fly "Billy Bob's Flyin' and Feed" or "Outlaw Plane Service"? Naw, didnt think so. Lol
Criminey Jade Thanks this. -
The rates are low for a reason. The big guys think the others will go out of business or agree to be sold to them, then every trucking company, except for a very few, will be like a WalMart store. You get what they give you, or do without. Can't you see this coming?
Deregulation of most things was good for the average person, for a while, now it's all like a game of Monopoly. In the end you're broke, and one guy has all the money.HalpinUout, Criminey Jade and dogtrucker Thank this. -
Some people will say "Hey, that's the free market". I'm not one of those guys. Some people on the right do not understand that we need small business. When Walmart comes to town, the whole point is to destroy all the competition. After they've done that, prices raise. Until the biggest implode, this is what we deal with.
