Former trainees allege Roehl Transport failed to pay minimum wage
Some former trainees for Roehl Transport Inc. have filed a class action and collective action lawsuit against the Wisconsin-based carrier, claiming they logged as many as 70 hours of on duty time per week, but were not paid at least minimum wage.

So, we should pay the guys at the vo-tech welding class minimum wage for the time they spend during field training days? I hope these students keep pushing these sorts of issues. At some point it will cause the carriers to give up on the idea of bringing in a perpetual stream of new drivers and dealing with the high costs of OTJ training, and focus on retaining existing drivers.

I think CRE has a lawsuit against them for trainees being paid less than minimum wage also while they were students and in 1st and 2nd phase training. Probably won't be the only company sued if one has to pay out.
