Prolaznik Thanks this. -
They do random drug/alcohol checks, and look at everything on your truck and trailer. Even if you have all the correct documents needed.

This has some of the management at my shop all worked up this year. They were pulling all of our trucks through the shop to go over them last week and busting our chops about anything loose in the cabs, like our hard hats, coolers, clip boards, etc.... They told me that if I wanted to keep my lunch cooler on my passenger seat I'd have to strap it down and put my hard hat had to be in my bin under the passenger seat requiring me to get out of my truck when I needed it, I drive a 10 wheel IH Workstar with a lugger box body on it. Our lead mechanic busted my chops about having my truck washed as well, even though after about a day and a half it'll look just as dirty as it did before washing it because I run in and out of two different landfills multiple times a day I'm one of the few at my shop that keeps my truck as nearly spotless inside as I can, a tough task consider the time I spend in landfills, but I had a DOT officer tell me years ago that that first impression when he opens your door can make all the difference in how hard he looks at things. I keep all my permits up to date and neat, never any old ones left in the book and most of us here all run our logs strictly by the book so us drivers really don't worry about this blitz. This year I'm getting out of two of the three days because I have to finish up two more days of classroom training, mainly more haz mat training, but prior to this job I've run every day of the blitzes of the past and never had any issues other than arguing with an Ohio DOT cop about Ohio's Concealed Handgun License law which apparently I knew better than he did
