I parked for the night about 1 mile from where this happened exactly one week before it happened. I encountered a group of three children about 9 years old shot fireworks at my truck while I was attempting to go to sleep. I led out and a group of non English speaking parents were watching and laughing. Then it got dark and several people tried opening my doors so I moved a half mile up the street and didn't have any more problems. The area this is all happening is rarely notified by police. I've been told by local residents they don't come around unless something big happens. It's too risky for them to hang out there.

I'll be the first to respond to that with: sold to Canada. Who has a better idea what to do with Detroit?

I am angry and sad.. I can't believe our lives are of so little value in the industry we so hardly support.
Still we can't find a way for us to come together and really set a voice out to change things for us, things (for us) will not only continue down this road but will eventually get worse..
All we can do is carry concealed, and have life insurance for in case we are not to come back from that next load, our families will at least have some monetary resolvement for the time being.

The lives of truckers, man or woman are more valuable than the load and it is time the industry starts to realize this. I think what it is going to take is for truckers to band together and refuse to go to these areas unless they have a place to park on the property, no after dark pickups or delieveries and a premium paid for even going to these places. Husband went to a place above Detroit for a pu and it was supposed to not have parking, but turned out they did have some for a limited number of trucks and they used what had been a fast food place to put empty trailers on which had some room to park.

It is sad that a child will grow up without his dad. In the case of Jason Rivensburg, his wife was pregnant with twins and gave birth a week after he was killed, he also had another child.

I think companies should allow us the right to defend ourselves. Isn't there parts of the constitution that talk about us having a right to defend ourselves and our property? But my company basically says #### you and your life. You can not defend or protect yourself. I hope our employees die. What a nice policy right???

The way I figure it Ann Ferro killed this trucker. The way the FCMSA's HOS is set up it forces drivers to make bad decisions and park in dangerous locations. Drivers can no longer make adjustments to their driving schedule to find a safe spot to park (due to the electronic logs). The government does not care.

This IS however good news for the trucking company he used to work for. If he had been there for several years the CPM they were paying him probably got a little excessive. Now they can hire someone from Mexico, or a former Soviet satellite republic and pay him 19 CPM.

It is all about maximizing share holder value you know

I think you have no idea what you're talking about and politicizing this man's death. There's no need for that.

Why is that. A man is dead, in part due to unjust laws. How long will people just bend over and take it from the FCMSA.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Once again. Laws had nothing to do with what happened. Enough politicizing.
