Good. That means they'll increase there pay and that means other companies are going to have to increase there pay as well since they are competing to get more drivers to...which means I'm going to get another pay raise. This is very good news.

Oh crap, it more than likely means they will petition for more money to train students, and see if they can get the prison system to assign inmates for work release.
And raise the payroll taxes to pay for it -vicious cycle.
In a perfect world they would actually think to raise their driver rates -but why would they do that?Moon_beam Thanks this. -
Good time to buy shares then. Next article will be Despite driver shortage, Swift still manages to deliver on time freight reducing operating costs. Im convinced the whole market is a big rigged game to move it up and down for profit in both directions by Wall Street. If it wasnt, the Dow would be no where near where it is now. Best thing I ever did was learn how to short sell the market, panned out very well in 08.

Anybody with a company that big, employs that many people or that can put a huge dent in the way the US is run or functions definitely rubs shoulders with people in high places.
There are things done or deals made that the grunts of the world wouldn't understand or benefit from.
By the way i consider myself a grunt too until they invite me to the corporate owners BBQ. -
They can fill the seats, that is not a big problem. Keeping the a _ _ in the seat is the problem.

Not like these big companies care about service anymore. Its all about the numbers presented to the share holders.

I have heard driver shortage ever since I got into trucking over 15 years ago. even when trucking co's had to rent out acres of land in 2000 due to the high repposession & truck turn in rate, they were saying driver shortage. I.M.O. there has never been a drive shortage. if there was the rates would be way up. co shout this all the time so they get first time drivers going for the bait.
