Must be a miracle, all the driving is still getting done. Another manufactured problem.

Big driver shortage.... companies hire at the same rate they did 5 years ago. Same old story with same results.

I have noticed in my area that some smaller companies are " Guaranteeing" a certain amount of money either per day or per week. This helps out your paycheck when the company claims there is no freight or you get held up someplace. The more this happens the more larger companies will take notice.

There is no driver shortage. There is a pay shortage. Why does the average company otr driver make roughly the same or lower per mile as a driver did in the early 90s???

You're right there, the pay is a huge factor.Companies wanna hire cheap to free labor and unfortunately too many drivers falls into their web of lies

2 yrs ago 1 yr ago you're correct, there is a huge driver shortage.Just look around.I see more trks sitting at terminals then ever before.I see billboards, banners and signs planted in the ground looking for drivers.I don't see it getting better but worse and the companies fail to see the real problems.
After I posted this, I noticed the date looks like from 2 years ago.
When I was unemployed for 6 months before I got this hauling asphalt job,I filled out some applications and the ads were deceiving, everyone of those employers was going to hire me except 1 and that was UPS straight trk..I turned all those other jobs down mainly because of the pay.Im worth more then what their wage was.I have settled for slave wages for yrs and busted my ### for employers I finally had enough. If companies wanna hire good safe driver the pay speaks volumes as well as not being put on a leash.I have zero compassion for companies that can't find the drivers,it serves them right.

pay the drivers more and they will come

however that would raise costs to the company and increase of available trucks means rates go down, so profits per truck go down.

It's all BS, no drivers means more money to the company with the drivers.
