All these "self-driving " trucks will be sitting on a ramp because there will be no actual human beings to take them to the warehouse. Funny why he didn't say why self driving trucks are needed in the first place. And look at all the ads surrounding the clip. What driver shortage?
Did you read the article ????
"Kahn noted the automation technologies are not driver replacement tools but rather complement the truck operator.
Improving safety, efficiency and performance are top priorities for the entire transportation industry. These are common goals we are collectively working toward, Kahn said." -
drvrtech77 and Skydivedavec Thank this.

I thought we already had driverless trucks !!
"semi" retired and Marksteven Thank this. -
Hi Hardly, 10-4, sounds like a "wait and see" attitude.
yep. Precedent has yet to be set -
On the face of it, who wouldn't want to be able to flip a with and put the truck on "un-attended cruise" as long as the GPS said you were in a safe area to do so, and relax and get comfortable? (like between Kerrville, TX and Sierra Blanca, TX) Yes, I realize all of the pitfalls and problems that would immediately occur but I'm trying to think like one of these over-paid thinkers who only have to come up with a clever idea every now and then to keep a job with PACCAR of Eaton.
