"They" already encroach into our lives enough, thank you. And "truck stops" are often the nearest store for 30+ miles in rural communities, especially after "normal business hours."
Some truckers are convicted sex offenders, should we ban truck stops from selling condoms?
Some truckers are obese, should we prevent truck stops from selling junk food?
Some truckers are Islamophobic, should we stop truck stops from selling Christian paraphernalia?
Some truckers have gambling problems, should we forbid truck stops from selling lotto tickets?
PS: Many of the older truck stops have bars inside.
Troopers pull over intoxicated truck driver four times over the legal limit

seen posted on this website. Looks to me like you
just like to argue for the sake of aruguing. What do condoms have to do with truck drivers and sex offenders? What difference does it make if a truck stop is near your house and sells beer?
What does religion have to do with a truck driver
drinking and driving? What does selling lottery tickets or being a fat slob that eats to much junk food? Who is the they that you are referring to? I just think it's not a good idea to sell alcohol in a truck stop. Go have a couple of drinks, sounds like you can use a few. I figured I would get a reply back like this from someone. That's a great idea
putting bars in a truck stop. Did you ever wonder why they all don't have a bar? Ever heard of culpable liability? -
its a good idea to sell alcohol in a truck stop? I guess putting a store that sells firearms across the street from a school is
not a bad idea either. I wont say any more on this subject. I don't drink alcohol or do drugs anyhow. I know human nature
though and if its easy to get your hands on people with a problem cant resist the temptation. There is no doubt about that. -
themselves thru self abuse. Drinking and driving kills other people who are innocent. -
Aaaaah yes..........the refreshing voice of sanity wafts in.......NOT. Follow your line of thinking all the way out.......a T/S shouldn't sell beer because a CDL holder can't drive impaired......heck NOONE can drive impaired......but the gov. gets huge revenue from taxing the alcohol industry. THEN make laws AGAINST it. Sounds to me like we just shouldn't sell it if you follow your line of thinking all the way into the ditch.....it's authoritarianism; plain and simple.
There were and ARE bars in a T/S because there are thousands of responsible adults on the road who like a nice meal and a drink at the end of a workday. And there ARE thousands who do just that; DAILY, and do not drive "buzzed", sloshed, or ####ed. Also plenty who fire up the grill and have a beer while they are cooking food on the lot.
And yet we have this self-righteous crowd who just PILES on after an incident like this.....think they know what's best for everyone and are ready to self-enforce. The guy BROKE THE LAW. He was caught. Good. -
I'm confused. Why shouldn't truck stops sell beer?? Because there are CDL holders who frequent the establishment? That's kinda dumb. Some sell porn, and kids go in them. Some have pork, and Muslims go in them. Should they stop selling candy and fast food because of the fat slobs?
-
That was kinda my point Joe.........a lawful activity or product shouldn't be "banned" from a certain segment because of "temptation"............if someone is gonna drive while ####-faced they are gonna do it regardless.
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
On one hand so many drivers here complain about how TS no longer cater exclusively to truckers(as if they EVER really did--and on the other hand they complain that they shouldn't be able to sell alcohol....as usual the real issue gets skewed--he was Trashed--would it have been any different WHERE he got the alcohol?
As for TS--they are a business...not to mention..in many cases the ONLY business(especially 24 hour biz)for miles around and they tend to serve the Community they are part of.......joseph1135 Thanks this. -
