I recently picked up a trailer at a dealer that is located in the same nest of trucking related businesses where CR England and Central Refrigerated have their training facilities in Salt Lake.
I barely made it out without incident.
Ticking electronic devices on my dashboard cause me undue anxiety. I would like an exemption please....pete1 Thanks this. -
Every sector of trucking seems to be petitioning for some sort of exemption. Pretty soon, it is all going to be as complicated as Obummercare.

If England is granted this...expect the fatality rate to go up...England could care less about people lives...they're only concerned with stuffing their pockets as much as possible at the expense of the motoring public who they could care less about.
pete1 and joseph1135 Thank this. -
I see the article says that, but why do they cite 49 CFR 383.25(a)(1) multiple times? 49 CFR 383.25(a)(1) has nothing to do with waiting for the hard copy to come in the mail.
Can you cite the regulation regarding having the hard copy in hand? I am interested in reading it. I can't remember having to wait. I would have thought I was issued a temporary license and was able to use my CDL immediately. But that was a hundred years ago... Maybe I just don't remember waiting, or the rules have changed since. -
I found that 383.153(a)(4) says States can issue a temporary CDL without a photograph as long as it is not valid for more then 60 days.
No hard copy needed.
So, it does look like England wants to put unlicensed drivers behind the wheel while the trainer is sleeping.drvrtech77 and pete1 Thank this. -

England has their own employees give "skills" tests, so unless you crash you. pass.
When I got on the road (with a trainer), I had less than one hour of driving experience.
That's right - It seems England wants to send people out to drive unsupervised who have 1 hour behind-the-wheel experience (and most of that in the yard) -
They basically are throwing a new driver out in a truck without a trainer. The trainer more then likely will have less then a years experience, and will be sleeping while the trainee is driveing anyways. If they have to get a exemption to get more body's in trucks, what makes you think they have very many experience drivers to train them properly?
