though some may like these "rollbacks"

it is cause of concern that these changes are motivated by the corporations who want us working 24/7 if they could

it would be nice if this legislature was motivated by grassroots truck drivers and not corporate interests and greasing palms

It's going to take awhile to implement. The purveyors of ELD software will have to make changes. Its not just as simple as reverting to the previous version and downloading the change.

And... there's the possibility that some carriers would be stupid enough to mandate that they aren't going to go with the flow on this, and just keep doing the more restrictive rule on restarts as corporate policy.

The article I read yesterday indicated while Obama didn't like some of the provisions in the bill, like relaxing banking regulation, he is going to sign it. Bipartisan nose holding.

I think trucking companies will adopt the changes quickly as possible. Their effect on team operations is horrible. Overall efficiency has suffered for all drivers industry wide.

While we have been getting the incremental shaft for years, I think this is a step in the right direction.

That's the first thing that popped into my head when I read about this proposed change. I find it odd that more people aren't thinking along this line. At the end of the day, the industry forcing this change has nothing to do with driver convenience/freedom and everything to do with pushing freight a few extra hours down the road.

I don't see this change as a good thing for OTR drivers. When the change passes and the rate of accidents goes up because drivers are working an additional 10+ hours a week...I guess we'll see what people think of the change then.

What difference does it make what interests influenced a small positive change? The cause for concern lies in people's willingness to celebrate the bread crumbs they've been given while ignoring the fact that they are being kicked in the teeth yet again. One small step forward for truck drivers, one giant leap backwards for the country. I'd rather see the country back on track...

Just because we were handed a very small victory doesn't matter. It's not going to matter when the country is broke again and Wall Street screwed us again but it's ok because the politicians helped their Wall Street overlords and now they can get all the campaign cash they want from those big corporations and Wall Street and we won't even need those resets because the country will be broke again. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!! The dems got their immigration bs and the reps got their corporate bailouts back. All is well in Washington DC.
