Notice how he just drifts around until he hits the median rail again? He was looking for his phone so he could finish the call he was on.

Seriously, how can you be surprised by ice when it's raining in Jersey in the middle of January, and there's a truck sitting sideways across the road ahead of you?

There was a car on fire behind him, I presume he hit that car head on when he jumped the rail. Jumping the rail probably broke the tie rods and or busted the draglink/pitman arm rendering the truck steerless. Just a shame this stuff is still happening. Biggest easiest tool in this situation is to look at the outside temperature. 25-35 degrees seems to be the worst temp for blackice.

That part of the NJTP has car only lanes and truck/car lanes. When he went over the rail he went into the car only lanes. Now that car may have been hit by him or just hit the barrier between north & south lanes and is not on fire you see the head lights & blinker(s) off the barrier and maybe steam.
That was ice not black ice as we had the same stuff here just up the road on I95 in CT.

BTW it just made the news @ 11 on CBS NYC.
