What exactly changed? The regulations that the CSA covers have been around forever... the fact that they are adding up all of the violations and making them actually mean something is the only new thing on the horizon.

The example NBC uses to start their story was from 2006:
I HATE when media tries to use the most horrific examples, to make a point 9 years later---when statistics have changed drastically in that time frame. But one statistic remains the same year after year: Nearly 93% of death related accidents involving tractor-trailer vs. passenger vehicle, is found to be the fault of the passenger vehicle since I first read that statistic in 2001. BUT THE MEDIA ISN'T GONNA TELL THE PUBLIC THAT, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FREAK'N SELL CORN FLAKES!!!

There's really no solution... and more government intervention, rules / regulations, trucks with automatic brakes, stricter HOS, cameras, etc., won't fix the problem... and articles like this fuel the fire, for all of that.

Everyone is in a hurry - climbing up the ### of the guy in front of them, like they're on a NASCAR track. People want everything NOW. They order it on the Internet tonight, and want it tomorrow. Cell phones are being used constantly while driving - text / talk... because they can't wait until they stop at a safe place. Truckers are trying to get the load picked up / delivered on time, while they deal with traffic jams, weather, delays, and go as much over the speed limit as possible... or their trucks will allow.

Every day, I see truck drivers climbing up someones ###, regardless of the road / weather conditions - ignoring any kind of safe following distance.

Truckers have been trained, they know the risks, and the majority are safe drivers. But there's no amount of regulation, that will change the habits / behavior of bad drivers - they're everywhere.

The media also fails to show that in car/truck accidents, 78% of the time , the same vehicle is at fault. No sense in the media posting any REAL facts.

The media never reports about the accident where the 4 wheeler forces a big truck off the road, killing the driver and destroying the truck and the 4 wheeler doesn't have enough insurance to cover the expenses of destroyed truck or a family that has to money out of their pocket to bury their loved one.

The media reports about a truck, tired and has an accident, what they don't report is that state closed all it's rest areas because they said they didn't have the money, yet has toll roads taking in money hand over fist and millions of dollars of road money is spent on bike trials few people use.

Tired of the trucker being the bad guy, let's park it and let the public starve.

    Smh it's the media's fault.

So it was the media driving thAt log truck today trying to run me off the road. And if possible the 4 wheelers who seemed to maintain their lane. Even though the (media) was riding the zipper.

The media pulling that flatbed while speeding and tailgating the 4 wheeler through town. Sure is lucky the 4 wheeler didn't have to make a turn. The media sure is smart. I guess they can read minds.
