Trucking companies serving a major intermodal complex in the Chicago area face longer trips after the Illinois Commerce Commission ruled that a key route must be shut down to commercial traffic because of safety concerns. Last weeks ruling that the Walter Strawn Drive crossing must be closed to commercial trucking by Jan. 28 will force trucking companies serving the Union Pacific Railroads terminal at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center to take a longer route via the Arsenal Road interchange on Interstate 55. Not only is the Arsenal route longer, but truckers, many of whom are moving heavy agriculture goods, will have to lighten their loads or get overweight permits to use the route.

I like how they have that billboard on 80 telling trucks to use the Arsenal Interchange. Been up for quite awhile now.

Judge told them to remove barriers last time,
but looks like Village of Elwood digging deeper...
Something tells me that is more to the story than "safety issue"...
