A good bit like working some LTL into TL, maybe O/O's will reconsider LTL. Some good money if you sniff the truffle out.

Would I take Cargomatic's bet that there are enough trucks with light loads and time to make more pickups? Nah. Most of us have just enough time to make our runs. In comparison, Uber is tapping into the almost limitless excess capacity in the private vehicle sphere where most cars are empty except for driver. Uber matches that limitless capacity with those people who would like their own customized hours driving their own vehicle.
Oh, maybe Cargomatic can ship items small enough to fit in the cab... -
Shippers would have to get much, much more efficient and on the ball and that's not really likely but is badly needed. Too many shippers out there with a give a flute attitude because OTR truckload companies have shifted the cost of waiting onto their drivers.
Could Cargomatic change this? It's a structural problem brought on by W. Edwards Deming, who invented the concept of 'just in time' for everything from peanuts to axles. So everything becomes, in a sense, perishable where late is not an option. In most cases, you have just enough time to get to your destination, light load or heavy, and it has to go.
In worst cases, failure to deliver on time can shut a line down. Even if you've got a load of mere 25-cent plastic parts essential to assembling dashboards, for example. -
I cant see ashipper PAYING TOP DOLLAR,for FREIGHT they need RIGHT AWAY,on the back of somebodys TRUCK,Just waiting to in line just to get to the CUSTOMER,as the old saying goes"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" Self Explanatory

First UShip, now UberShip.........
Shaggy, passingthru69 and 30-aught-6 Thank this. -
Except UShip allowed drivers with no authority, so legit drivers were bidding against a dude with a trailer.
Bakerman Thanks this. -
1 year later...

They might as well share the pain.....
I don't really see that working even in the best of times.
