Truckers Urged to Avoid GWB: Two Lanes Closed Truckers Urged to Avoid GWB: Two Lanes Closed 9/8/07 1010 Wins, NY Quote: NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two eastbound lanes of the upper-level George Washington Bridge will be closed to traffic for the next few weekends. The reason: The Port Authority says the span has taken a beating from truck traffic over the last few years, and the road needs to be repaved. The lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Fridays to 10 a.m. Saturdays, and from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 10 a.m. Sundays, starting this weekend and continuing through the end of November. Cars will be routed to the bridge's lower level during the overnight hours.
