Quote:
The World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics is an annual event which unites law enforcement and truckers to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes. Since it began in 2001, more than 5,000 trucks -- big rigs to dump trucks -- have traversed more than 1,000 miles during the Guinness Book of World Record breaking event.

Truckers will drive their rigs in the convoy in both Cheyenne and Rock Springs on Saturday. The convoy begins at 11 a.m., at the LCCC campus in Cheyenne and at 11:15 a.m., in Green River. Celebrations will begin at noon on the LCCC campus and at 11:45 a.m., at the White Mountain Mall in Rock Springs.

Some 2,000 truckers from around the country will participate this year.

More than 850 Wyoming Special Olympics athletes will benefit.

Since the event began, more than 5,000 truckers and their big rigs have travelled more than 1,000 miles since the convoy began in 34 states & three Canadian provinces.

Truckers pay $100 to enter a truck and nearly $500,000 was raised last year.

Trucking companies and truckers can visit {M7www.worldslargesttruckconvoy.com to register.

Trucking companies bid additional sponsorship funds to win the spot of lead convoy truck.

Spectators can line the route or attend the celebration event.
