Toll Hikes for NYC

If they want to preserve the health of the MTA, then they need to get rid of the current management, lower or eliminate tolls and apologize for the corruption. I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I operated like they do in New York, especially the MTA. I could not look at myself in the mirror. Prior to 9/11, tolls on the GW were about $20.00, as I recall. Today, just over 10 years later, tolls have gone up over 500%. Where did all that money go? They cannot justify it due to inflation. They cannot justify it due to cost going up that much. The only answer is corruption. Someone, or someone's are embezzling the money or taking the money and using it for other things. One thing is for certain, they don't use the toll money to repair and keep up the roads.

 

They used the toll money to build the New World Trade Center, or parts of it anyways. Last I knew AAA had a lawsuit filed over the diverting of toll money used for road upkeep/building to using it for the WTC.

 

I'm just glad they got I-95 (cross-bronx) re-surfaced from the bridge northward. That was worth a few bucks not getting the crap beat out of you and your truck on that God-forsaken road as it was before.

 

The GWB&All the ny/nj crossings are controlled by The Port Authority&they have been using tolls for the whole WTC project....since they are also responsible for that whole area....of course its all ########....since pvt investors built the new one...but they use bridge&tunnel tolls to subsidize everything they do...which is mostly line their pockets

 

Can someone ask Toll? What are you hiking for NYC?

 

Another reason to stay out of the northeast...

 

Im from nyc, and everyone knows the mta is the biggest full of crap agency there is.
