Good to know that Nanny is contemplating another rule to make money so she can make more rules to make money.

    Safety first, though, of course.

I'm thankful I run elogs. My company runs a mix of elogs and paper logs. One day while I was in the terminal having the oil changed, I heard dispatchers saying all day "I need a driver with paper logs for this." and "My driver can't do this. He has elogs." When it's time to sleep, leave me alone. No, I'm not driving 18 hours straight because someone lost a load order on the floor under his desk for half the day, or because the loader wanted a 3 hour lunch. It took a few weeks for the planners to figure it out, but they eventually got it. I have an 'attitude problem' so I've changed jobs a lot. Tough. It kept my license clean.

Some shippers have been asking about hours to run for awhile now, saw the writing on the wall then. At some point electronic "readers" will scan all the carrier info including hours to run as a matter of course.

Wouldn't be surprised to see more drastic changes like to the 70hr in 8 day rule in general.

That sounds great when does it become a reality or will be something that is stuck on the board and never move forward.

I'd like them to amend the 70 and if you need 24 off the truck take it having a mandatory 34 jus because you run out of your 70 feels like being penalized for working hard. Granted I don't know what was like back in the day running before the 70 and all but I do know that hard work should pay off.

Translation: The trucking companies will agree to a disclaimer when accepting loads and the driver will sign a disclaimer when picking up the loads.

The onus will remain on the driver and the company to ensure they can legally do what they agree to.

Doesn't seem like a big change other than some drivers will realize they can actually say 'no' and others will put their signature to something they know they can't do.
