Anything that would benefit us is always decried as an attack on safety by her ilk. I don't want to see larger trailers on the road but the rest of the bill would be helpful.

Brown and Frito Lay, Hostess and a few others already do 2 x45's on certain turnpikes. I may have seen 3x 28's, don't remember for certain. My first and only though was "greedy basxxxds"

I will take a bigger capacity trucks to get the ban on higher insurance requirements as well as reimposing the more stringent rest requirements for us. That IMO would be a good for the industry. It's not very often we see good in this industry, most of the time it is always something to hurt us or make things just a little more difficult, so I hope and pray this bill will slide through without any issues.

I've been saying this for years-- watch the as the truck companies raise wages, they will also want to make the trailers bigger so the net result is the drivers are making the same amount they were before the raises.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Trucks have greatly evolved in terms of performance and safety in the last three decades.
I wouldn't be opposed to.....actually, I think we should push for allowing a 53'/53' combo on the interstate system with designated approved routes.... So long as we get our own lanes and more parking. It would be kinda like a US version road train.
No doubt that it would make our transportation system more efficient.

Maybe so but lets not close our eyes and think they can't see us. Bigger cube trailers take away freight from other drivers as each hauls more. The turnpike doubles put one driver out of work.

Point being bigger cube means more freight hauled less times = equals less drivers and will lower the pressure on carriers to pay more money. Heavier weights will also stress unit components more and add stress to a decaying highway system thereby lowering the safety bar.

Do you really want the pair of Swift yahoo's whom destroyed the truck on youtube pulling a pair of 48's? They are out there along with many more just like them and they will find their way behind the wheel of one of these trains because a stupid and desperate carrier will put them there. ( FedEx? )

    I'm against this 150%
