Ugh. We do a lot of drops at that yard. Not the best part of town for sure. Always keep the doors locked and try to get in and out quick as possible.

    Sure hope he recovers okay.

    #### that's scary.

I know we all like to think we're tough guys but I think with a gun pointed at me I'm not going to struggle.

Just going off what I read in the article. So I'm not criticizing the driver if he did put up a fight. Hoping he makes a full recovery and can get over the emotional trauma I'm sure this will cause.

The thing is, this sort of thing can happen anywhere, even at a busy truck stop at night. Lot's of ways to render a victim harmless without a loud gun in a surprise attack in the dark scenario.

Criminal element learns how trucks and truckers operate. They may know a nearby warehouse that receives high-dollar loads at 07:00. They know what the typical carrier is, they know what the seal will look like, they know where the driver is likely to park the evening before, they know when the driver will be doing his walk-around before heading to his appointment. Just something you have to be aware of, especially when you have some freight that might have a black-market value. It doesn't have to be cigarettes or TV's or laptops.

I try to never do a walk-around in the dark without a good flashlight and keeping the entire vehicle length lit up and scanned from time to time, and scan underneath to look for people that may be staged on the other side, probably near the rear of the trailer. But a running-board/gun attack as you're driving and stopped at a gate or something is hard to defend against.

Bet JB never tells other drivers going into that area about it,,they don't want drivers refusing to go there,,after allthe driver can be replaced, hope the driver has a good lawyer,,workmans comp claim and a suit for sending him in a hazardous area,,

ATL is real bad for thefts, but these guys are getting brazen...nothing is going to stop them from stealing freight/trucks
