I'm thinking about moving to Mexico before the rush. Sure would be nice to own my own property down there. ![]() ![]() :bigg rin_25513: |

| Ronno, ya can't smell ignorance, you have to hear it... I'd like to pose 3 questions to everyone who posts here and would care to answer. One rule; replies must be factual and not fraught with emotions, opinions, and somebody else's claims. 1) How much does a Mexican truck driver working for a fairly large co. earn? 2) Of all the various costs (fuel, tires, insurance, repairs, license, driver wage, etc, etc, etc,) of owning trucks, what percentage of that cost is represented by the driver's wage? 3) Has anyone posting on this forum been PERSONALLY victimized or harmed by a Mexican citizen in any way, shape, or form? I hope these answers will be interesting... rx |

Aren't we saying the same thing here? This was in response to them saying they get pulled over for nothing in the US and get ticketed.... You don't get pulled over, and then ticketed for nothing. What's the charge? Nothing.... Wait! So you're giving me a ticket for nothing? That don't fly.

That sounds chickenlittlepoop. If you were on duty to do an inspection on your day OFF, ..... now I'm REALLY confused! I've also heard rumor that certain state troopers have been known to know the approximate times Big truck drivers arrive at certain locations and do spot log book checks. If you neglected to draw a line down to Sleeper or Off Duty - Not Driving, they gotcha. But here's the kicker,......rumor has it that they time their arrival about 15 to 30 minutes before the required, (then eight) hours off duty had been reached,........forcing the Big truck driver to, by law, "be in attendance of the vehicle," and, after 7 1/2 minutes, you have to start the 8-hour clock all over again. They've ALREADY seen the log books and KNOW who can and can't legally move without 8 CONSECUTIVE hours off duty. Seven-hours forty-five minutes AIN'T Eight. Who's gonna make a run for the border? I might be able to understand the frustrations of a Highway Officer. But I wonder sometimes if their mind-set is to Send A Message by clamping down on any Big truck driver in hopes they'll pass the message along? One of my former dispatchers became a dispatcher because he REFUSED to pay a $1,500 --- for a 15 MINUTE violation in his log book. Fifteen minutes over on his total daily hours, but not over the ten hours driving legally allowed back then. They revoked his Class 1 (Class A now, CDL) because he refused to pay. That was in California. Go figure. That's sheepdip and bullfeathers. ![]() |

Since I didn't do anything all day except kick back in the sleeper watching TV or went inside to do laundry or eat, I just drew a line through "sleeper" at the end of the day. I didn't think anything of it. He wrote me up for that too, said that I was required to log "off duty" every time I got out of the truck. Since I admitted I got out of the truck for periods longer than 5 minutes, he ticketed me for "logbook falsification". Since I was on a restricted road (I had missed the turn off for the truck route and couldn't turn around), I had been pulled over for that initially. Since he didn't write me up for that, just "failure to obey a regulatory sign", which was a smaller fine, I decided to cut my losses and pay the tickets. $350 in total.
